Construction of the new railway bridge over the newly constructed highway

REQUIREMENTS
• Fastest solution for the construction of the new bridge
• Allow for the option to extend the bridge, to accommodate a future extension of the highway to 2+2 lanes
• Minimizing the risks associated with a built-in-situ structure
• A fast solution with minimum impact to the building site traffic and the environment

SOLUTION
• An alternative to massive built-in-situ abutments and the related construction processes and technologies
• Use of a frame precast system on slab raft foundation
• Using 8m high wing-walls
• Overall construction of the bridge and thus total rail possession in only 43 days
• Eliminated the requirement for a temporary bridge
• The main route was not blocked for the site traffic during installation
